The Cookbook Club: February
You may have heard the buzz about our Food-Lit Book Club launching in January 2010. The 18 Reasons members who nabbed a spot in this group will meet once a month for three months to discuss food-themed literature. The first round of this club is sold out, but stay tuned for the next club, which begins in April. This February we will debut the 18 Reasons Cookbook Club, and registration is officially open! 18 Reasons will select a new cookbook for each month, and participants will have a month or more to cook from the cookbook and then gather for a potluck to share one favorite dish from the book and swap tales of their experience.
The Cookbook Club is open to the first 20 people to sign up and costs $10 to reserve a spot. If you don't already own the cookbook selected you can purchase it when you reserve your spot simply by selecting the "With Cookbook" price on Brown Paper Tickets. Your book purchase will support SF favorite Omnivore Books(where you will pick up your cookbook) as well as 18 Reasons.
The Cookbook Club is for everyone, from beginning cook to professional chef. It's about all of us playing around in the kitchen and sharing the adventure. Children under 12 are admitted free with an adult cooking partner.
As seen in the movie Julie & Julia, the cookbook selection for February is Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child, Louisette Bertholle, and Simone Beck. The potluck will be held on Saturday, February 20th, 6:30 PM.
Bonus point for those who attempt aspics!
