Sylvester Manor Presents The Bankesters with opening act Large Print Edition
Phil and Dorene Bankester, their three daughters and one son-in-law are known for some of the finest harmony singing in bluegrass music.
The Bankesters are a fast rising group on the bluegrass and roots music scene. Following in the footsteps of legacy family acts like The Cox Family, The Marshall Family and The Whites, The Bankesters broke on to the national scene with their latest Compass Records release, "Love Has Wheels", which won the 13th annual Independent Music Award for Best Bluegrass Album in June 2014.
In a short amount of time they have developed a unique sound that has drawn critical acclaim from across the bluegrass community. In 2012, Emily Bankester was also awarded the first International Bluegrass Music Association Momentum Award for Vocalist of the Year.
Produced by Alison Brown and including guest appearances from Sierra Hull, Rob Ickes, Josh Williams (all of whom have performed here on Shelter Island!), Jim Hurst, Kenny Malone and others, "Love Has Wheels" has the Bankesters showing off their bluegrass acumen.
