Carousel
In the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic Carousel, the lights come up to the strains of the "Carousel Waltz" at an amusement park in a New England town in 1873. Fishermen, sailors, mill girls and children are enjoying the sights and sounds of the carnival atmosphere. Nave millworker Julie Jordan meets the carefree, swaggering carnival barker Billy Bigelow and they are swept into a story of love and loyalty, bad choices and betrayal and ultimately redemption and hope. Rogers and Hammersteins luscious score (their personal favorite) includes If I Loved You, June is Bustin Out All Over, and Youll Never Walk Alone. Carousel is a thrilling, heartfelt testament to the redeeming power of love.
