Event
Voices Against Ebola
Poet, storyteller and educator Kewulay Kamara; the star of the Broadway hit Fela, Sahr Nguajah; pan-African superstar Papa Bajah; and poet and novelist Sister Rashida Ishmaili Abu Bakr join forces for Voices Against Ebola, an evening of performances and discussion to raise funds to help families in northern Sierra Leone survive the crisis. Beyond the deadly toll taken by the virus itself, Ebola has ravaged West African economies. Schools and markets have been closed indefinitely, and movement of people and commerce has been severely restricted. Most of Sierra Leone's 6 million people now live under quarantine.
Funds from this event go directly from the non profit Badenya, Inc. to: * Purchase and distribute foods and supplies--including surgical masks, hand soaps, gloves and Dettol-directly to families in need. * Support volunteers to educate vulnerable communities about preventive measures
