An ode to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, "Now That She's Gone" is a memoir about a Norwegian-American daughter and her mother, with Eleanor Roosevelt, sex, drugs and lutefisk thrown in for good measure.
Present Place: the assisted living apartment of Ellen's mother, the late Barbro Snortland, where Ellen is packing up the last of her mother's belongings.
