Hyde Park School of Dance Presents The Nutcracker 2014
Hyde Park School of Dance presents its annual performances of The Nutcracker at Mandel Hall, University of Chicago, 1131 East 57th Street, December 12th, 13th, and 14th. This beautifully refurbished theater is the setting for a magical event featuring mischievous mice, shimmering snowflakes, a giant Mother Ginger, and a beautiful Clara as she meets exotic characters from faraway lands.
The Nutcracker is performed by over 170 students of Hyde Park School of Dance and choreographed by the school's Founder and Artistic Director August Tye and Associate Artistic Directors Aimee Tye and Allyson Ratliff. Ms. Tye is also Ballet Mistress of Lyric Opera of Chicago.
All performances will also feature our littlest dancers in our Pre-Ballet Holiday Show (included in the event ticket) precursor performance. The Pre-Ballet Holiday Show is an audience favorite akin to a 'Pixar short' before a full length feature!
After Sunday's matinee performance, join us for Sugar Plums & Tea in the McCormick Tribune Lounge! Meet Clara, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and more delightful characters while enjoying delicious treats and refreshments. (Please note: this is a separate event requiring a separate ticket. Please visit the Sugar Plums & Tea 2014 - Hyde Park School of Dance ticket page for more information).
