A BROADWAY CABARET - the ENCORE! - TICKETS FOR SALE AT THE DOOR AT 6:30PM
A BROADWAY CABARET -- the ENCORE! takes the stage on Saturday, December 13, 7:30pm, at Jansen Art Center, 321 Front Street in Lynden. After sold-out performances in Bellingham, the Jansen reprises this lively and tuneful nightclub-style Broadway revue, featuring Martin Bray, Paul Henderson II, Megann Schmidt and Akilah Williams, special guest Edward Davidson, producer Martha Benedict, and musical director Scott Henderson. Tickets are $15 at Village Books in Bellingham, the Jansen Gallery Shop or www.jansenartcenter.org. For details contact info@jansenartcenter.org or call (360) 354-3600.
With quick-change songs, dances and vignettes, the cast recreates moments from beloved Broadway and stage hits from the last 100 years, from Gilbert & Sullivan to Wicked. Ballads, comedy numbers, and show-stoppers from favorites like West Side Story, The Mikado, South Pacific, Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma, Company, She Loves Me, and Kiss Me Kate. The featured performers are veterans of many local and regional productions; Martin Bray has been featured in three BTG shows as well as many Los Angeles dance productions, while Paul Henderson has appeared in Firehouse, BTG and Mount Baker Theatre repertory productions. Megann Schmidt's singing credits include two BTG shows. Akilah Williams has performed professionally in theatre in cabaret in NY and locally. Edward Davidson is known for featured roles in many shows, as well as the Midnight Mystery Players on KMRE Radio. "Broadway has never been better... Megann Schmidt... burns the place down. Paul Henderson... a superb tenor... a master comic. Akilah Williams... rattles the rafters with 'I Cain't Say No.' Martin Bray is... a terrific singer and actor... a pro hoofer. An all-star revue that you will be sorry you missed." Christopher Key, IMHO Reviews.
