Portraits Triptych
Portraits Triptych explores intimacy, privacy, and relationship in the form of intimate dance theater. A portrait, unpacked addresses the tenuous nature of the solitary woman. Abbot & Viv is a striking duet of heightened love and desire. The Mysterious Disappearance of the Second Youngest Sister delves into the construction of the artistic mind.
RE | Dance is Lucy Riner and Michael Estanich. They are creative partners dedicated to the presentation of dance theatre works that explore intimate human relationships. The instability and possibilities of charged relationships act as symbols for living in a volatile, contemporary world. Estanich and Riner ground their artistic philosophy in collaboration and creative exchange, seeking to expand their voices as contemporary artists. They (along with a number of collaborators) enjoy an open process where ideas are shared, investigated, and then crafted into dances that embody a heightened physical experience rich with emotional content and dramatic imagery. As dancemakers, they incorporate elements of dance, theatre, sculpture, and film creating rich visual images that bring to life environments for the dancers to inhabit while engaging the viewer through all of his or her senses. Their work reflects a rigorous inquiry into the body's capability for expression through motion and movement from the subtle to the grandiose. The disjointed path from imagined concept to physical reality to audience experience intrigues them and grounds their process. The creative process is an ever evolving dynamic between intention, honesty, intuition and play
