T Sisters
The T Sisters are a vocally driven Americana trio known to captivate audiences with close harmonies, inventive arrangements, and plenty of sass. When performing their lively set of originals and coverssometimes in arresting a capellathey call to mind classic girl groups past: from the Andrews Sisters and The Ronettes to The Roches and the Dixie Chicks. Touching on elements of folk, gospel, bluegrass and soul, the T Sisters weave evocative stories from their daily lives and wild-running imaginations. With this year's release of their dynamic debut full-length, Kindred Lines, the T Sisters have solidified a sound that is at once modern and timeless. They will bring that sound to the Arcata Playhouse on Saturday, November 1. Hailing from Oakland, California, these real sisters have been singing together since they were just kids. Along the way, each one has developed a distinct musical personality: Erika (vox, guitar) isn't afraid to belt out her emotions like a true jazz diva. Rachel (vox, guitar, banjo) spins bluesy narratives with a raw, impassioned delivery. Chloe (vox, percussion) sings her heartfelt, often poetic lyrics in an ethereal country vibrato. Together, they blend seamlessly. The T Sisters continue to expand their presence on the Northern California roots scene, whether accompanied by a full band or nothing more than acoustic instruments and their own body percussion. They've supported, and in some cases lent vocals to, The California Honeydrops, The Brothers Comatose, The Waybacks, Elephant Revival, Hot Buttered Rum, and their mentor and producer, Laurie Lewis. In July, they sang at the memorial service for comedy legend Harold Ramis in Hollywood.
