Event
New Year's Eve "Soiree' a Paris - Grand Fete" at The Conway Muse
This memorable evening begins with a step into the previous century - as one crosses the threshold into a warm room with low lights, and delicate music from Katy Mullen, harpist, fills the atmosphere. A delicious five-course evening meal is served, and enjoyed at leisure. Later, the sound of brass instruments calls from the floor above, where a brief concert entertains patrons with a variety of music evocative of France's rich early 1900's cultural scene. The Brass Menagerie is featured, with trumpeter Malcolm Peterson, hornist Beverly Soler, and friends, as well as arias from the period, sung by Lydia Randall and Sharyn Peterson. Dancing begins with a beautiful demonstration of the Argentine tango from David Imburgia in the Renaissance Room, after which patrons will have the opportunity to dance to the the romantic and jubilant sounds of "Le Chat Souriant" (the Smiling Cat), an ensemble made up of recent members of the Gadfo Gypsies, with Sharyn Peterson on Grappelli-style violin, Yusuf Kilgore on "git-fiddle," Josh Rust on guitar, Andy Simmons on bass, and Morgan Alstot on drums. After the sets of dancing music, at midnight, a complimentary champagne toast will welcome the New Year, with a surprisingly rousing finish! Dinner menue: French Onion or Creamy Tomato-Basil Soups, and Caesar or Spinach with Poppy Seed Dressing Salads. The main course is Shrimp Penne Pasta or Penne with Chicken Alfredo. Dessert is Cheesecake and Icelandic Confectionaries. Five-course Dinner at 7:30 is included in the regular ticket price. Show-Only Tickets are also available, with entry after 8:30pm
