The Good Life with Gretchen Rubin, author of 'The Happiness Project'
On a crowded bus Rubin had an epiphany: time was passing, and so little of it was spent doing things which made her feel happy. She didn't want to turn her life upside down: just focus on improving her life as it existed, and each month tackled a new set of resolutions: - Give proofs of love - Ask for help - Be serious about play - Keep a one sentence journal - Forget about results. She devoured everything from classical philosophy to cutting edge scientific studies, and looked to everyone from Plutarch and Thoreau to Oprah and Martin Seligman. Her discoveries range from the practical to the surprising to the profound, and her happiness project was documented on a blog - followed by over 30,000 people and now carried on Slate, Real Simple, The Huffington Post and Psychology Today. Rubin is the author of several books, a lawyer and a mom - still working on "the happiness thing". But a lot happier.
