Boal is the screenwriter of the acclaimed film The Hurt Locker, which is currently creating a great deal of Academy Awards buzz. Already winner of Best Picture Awards from the San Francisco Film Critics Circle, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, the Gotham Independent Film Awards and the NY Film Critics Circle, the film has been honored with 8 nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association and has been named as one of the top ten films of the year by the American Film Insititute and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
As well as his acclaimed screenplay for The Hurt Locker, Boal, a journalist who was embedded with bomb disposal troops in Iraq, wrote the article Death and Dishonor, which was the basis for the acclaimed film In the Valley of Elah, for which he received a story credit.
