Event
Ecole Royale
Named after the precursor to the Paris Conservatorie, Ecole Royale will present an evening of music from a revolutionary time in history, on the original instruments played. A time that began as a revolt of the spirit; a revolt against supernatural religion and the church, in favor of natural religion and practical morality, in favor of naturalness; against authority, in favor of freedom for the individual; and against privilege, in favor of equal rights and universal education. With this period instrument ensemble, we will be whisked back into the beauty of the sources of the classical style, when Haydn and Mozart were moving toward public concerts, publishers were printing sheet music, and music was truly to be enjoyed by all. Program: Abel, Quartet in A Major. Mozart, Duo in G Major for violin and viola and Quartet in D Major. Beethoven Serenade in D Major, Op. 25 for flute, violin and viola. Haydn Divertissement II in G Major, Op. 100 for flute violin and 'cello. Devienne, Sonata V in e minor, Op. 68 for flute and 'cello.
