Nature, the Enjoyer & Consciousness / A Study of Bhagavad-gita Chapter 13 with Kaustubha Das
In the Bhagavad-gita's 13th chapter Krishna goes straight to the point of the entanglement we experience and how yoga can free us. After speaking at length in the previous chapters about Karma, Jnana and Bhakti yogas, He gives a very concise presentation of the predicament every one of us finds ourselves in as a resident of the material world. The 13th Chapter covers the nature of the material world and it's 3 modes (gunas), the eternal individual soul, and in a most fascinating way speaks at length of how each one of us, on our sojourn through the world of matter is accompanied by the Paramatma or Supersoul. In 35 eloquent Sanskrit verses Krishna gives Arjuna the jnana-cakshusha, or the vision of knowledge. In this three hour workshop Kaustubha Das will show how by studying and understanding this one short chapter a person can put their entire life's experience into the context of the the timeless wisdom teachings of the yoga tradition and become empowered to make life decisions which can lead one from a place of entanglement and frustration to a place of spiritual freedom. As Krishna states in the chapter's final verse:
Those who see with eyes of knowledge the difference between the body and the knower of the body, and can also understand the process of liberation from bondage in material nature, attain to the supreme goal.
