Kung Pao Kosher Comedy and El Rio Present... Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Now in its 6th year, this monthly (every 3rd Thursday) comedy show features an eclectic mix of comedians. A Kung Pao Kosher Comedy and El Rio production. MC'ed by Kung Pao's Lisa Geduldig.
This month's comedians: Bernadette Luckett, Andrea Carla Michaels, Nathan Habib, Ash Fisher, and Lisa Geduldig
Bios: Bernadette Luckett started her career as a professional model in New York, but her love of comedy led her to a career as a stand up. She has performed all over the country and has appeared on TV comedy shows on MTV, NBC, and A&E. An avid writer, Bernadette has written for numerous sitcoms, including Living Single; Sister, Sister; The Tracy Morgan Show, and Girlfriends. She was a contributing writer to the comedic anthology No Kidding: Women Writers on Bypassing Parenthood and co-authored the popular self-awareness book 21 Days of Enlightenments. Most recently Bernadette appeared in and co-produced the documentary film Comedy Warriors: Healing Through Humor.
Andrea Carla Michaels is a storyteller who returned to the stage a few years ago after a 15 year gap. Total word-freak, Andrea names companies and products for a living, constructs crosswords for the NY Times, and plays Scrabble semi-professionally. The highlight of her life (until tonight) was winning a motorhome on "The Wheel of Fortune."
Nathan Habib began doing comedy in his freshman year of high school. His material is intelligent and performed with an awkwardly confident attitude. Born in Belgium and raised in Palo Alto, Nathan was brought up in a Jewish Israeli household with a Latvian mother, an Italian raised dad, giving him plenty of diversity and experience to talk about. He has performed all over the Bay Area with comics such as Arj Barker, Rich Vos, and Robert Duchaine and has performed in LA.
Ash Fisher is a comedian, writer and actor. Somehow switched at birth and raised on the East Coast, she has since found her home in Oakland. She performs stand up all over the Bay Area, hosts and produces "Ash Tuesday" every Tuesday 4-6pm on FCC Free Radio in San Francisco, co-produces the monthly Hella Gay Comedy Show, does voiceovers whenever someone lets her, and writes about all things queer, funny and Oakland for Wear Your Voice Magazine. She holds a BFA in Theater from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, and Sallie Mae will never let her forget it.
Lisa Geduldig is a local comic and comedy producer who's the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedy (now in its 22nd year); Funny Girlz: A Smorgasbord of Women Comedians; The Color of Funny: A Multi-Cultural Comedy Show; and A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar: The Comedy of Religion.
Must be over 21 as it's a bar. Tickets on sale on a sliding scale basis: $7 to $20.
