Formes, The Neon Violets & The Children of Leir
Yeah...we know we're spoiling you, but you're worth spoiling!

We have another tremendous trio of brilliant bands for your delectation!
Headlining we have Formes!

Drawing inspiration from Hawkwind, Sleep, Ufomammut on to Deftones and Tool, Formes trade in heavy doom ladenpsychedelia with a distinctly metallic edge.  The band's self-recorded debut album 'Dysphoria' released later this year will take you to the farthest reaches of your mind, propelled by otherworldly sounds, obscure psychedelia, doom and sludge grooves as evident on album taster 'Tumult'.   The 7 minute slab of ungodly doom laden psych sees the band finally forging their personality after two years of experimentation and progression to a heavier sound since formation in 2012.
Winning support from BBC Introducing, BBC 6 Music and a wealth of positive blog notices, live the band have shared stages with many of psychedelias biggest artists including Cosmic Dead, The Cult of Dom Keller, Plank and Mugstar. In 2014 they played Artrocker New Blood Festival in Jaunary, Live at Leeds and also played a coveted appearance at Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia in September which has raised the bands profile to new heights.

".... Formes take their stoned out swamp dragged take onpsychedelia in to ever darkening doom draped territories where even the likes of Gnod and Goat fear to tread"  Mark at Losing Today
"Psychedelic metal" isn't a new phrase by any stretch, butFormes have a take on it that makes the swirl seem all the more engulfing. Fascinating times we live in"  The Obelisk

"Formes, who may just be on the brink of something special',Echoes And Dust.
"to the Blade comes the shade of Formes who, quite appropriately for a band from the goth heartlands of Leeds, bring a lot of black to proceedings. Defiantly heavy metal they even come equipped with a little fella dressed as a goblin to add to the unworldly horror of it all. With lesser material, theatrics like these could serve as a distraction but Formes do a fine job of sucking such cynicism into a dark, doomy hole full of reverbed drums and leather gloves. Fantastic" Peter Guy at Getintothis.
"We stumble into Friday's activities courtesy of the maelstrom of noise that is Formes. The Leeds three-piece, playing a riff-heavy set in the vein of deafheaven or The God Machine provide an early wake-up call of what to expect"Drowned in Sound
"in The Blade Factory I witnessed a more varied set than expected which built up to a really tumultuous finale. From this evidence the new album shows all the signs of being both strong and different" Backseat Mafia

Before them, we are delighted to welcome The Neon Violets!

The Neon Violets produce heavy psych rock, throbbing hypnotic grooves and swirling drones with a dark and brooding edge. The three piece, from Oxford and London, was put together by bass player Joe Chapman, and features Rob McNeil on Guitar and Mario Cano Trillo on drums.

Joe was raised in a prison, sleeps in a Mongolian yurt and spent a substantial period in his early 20s eating road-kill. Rob has been chased by mountain gorillas, stroked a wild tiger and briefly masqueraded as the president of Botswana. Mario is from Cordoba. He makes films and has a moustache that is likely to have led to MI5 opening a file on him.

While various incarnations of the band have been playing since 2010, the current line-up has been in place since the summer of 2014. In this short time they have put together a set of intense, hooky, and heavy psych tracks that will shortly be recorded as a vinyl album.

"Oxford's answer to Spacemen 3 via early Black Sabbath, The Neon Violets are a completely immersive experience live, drenching everything in their path with sheets of reverb and undulating riffs that make us think of prime Wooden Shjips."  Q Magazine, October 2014

"Subterranean hypno-psych" with "Riffs as big as the sun"  Nightshift, May 2014

"slow, deliberate, droning riffs, reminiscent of Wooden Shjips, grip your brain ever tighter like a boa constrictor until your mind goes blank and you're seeing stars. It's a lovely way to go"  Nightshift June 2014

"The Neon Violets set about returning the venue to a time when immersive acid-fried rock ruled the land with a velvet glove and matching pantaloons. Committing themselves entirely to the sound is where The Neon Violets succeed; this is no homage or pastiche, it is purely about revelling in the ability of drone and walls of sound to create changes in the mind. Get swept away in the tide of reverb, delay and desert-baked guitars and it's just possible that by the end of the set, a moment of clarity will be achieved."  Nightshift April 2014

Opening the night we are thrilled to have Children of Leir!

The Children of Leir are a Leicester-based two-piece consisting of Stuart Gray and Gregg Hunt.
They specialise in playing hypnotic psychedelic trance-like long numbers with strong grooves. motorik-driven, mystical- horror infuenced, psychedelic folk.
They released a self-titled download album called 'The Children of Leir' (which is also available from the band as a CD issue) in 2013, and have a double A side - Black Annis/Children of Leir released at the end of October.

With a Goodsoul DJ set thrown in for good measure, this is going to be a massive night of music!
