The Truth about Love and the Usual Lies
Lyric Soprano Jessica Medoff sings the love songs of Kurt Weill, Aaron Copland, Jerome Kern and Leonard Bernstein among others accompanied by husband and gifted pianist, Micahel Bunchman. Jessica is currently making her mark as an admired young performer in both the classical and cross over repertoire. Praised for her outstanding acting abilities, inspired character choices, and vivid voice, she continues to excite audiences with her work on the operatic stage. Jon Sobel of Blogcritis Magazine wrote, Jessica Medoff Bunchman was perfectly spectacular...if she doesn't have a fan club, someone should start one. She recently triumphed in her debut performance of Judith in Bartoks Bluebeards Castle with the Natchez Festival of Music. Other roles in her operatic repertoire include Musetta (La Bohme), Micaela (Carmen), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Suor Angelica (Suor Angelica), The Governess (The Turn of the Screw), and Hanna Glawari (The Merry Widow). For her work as the Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas, the New York Times wrote, "...she sang the role with an alluring mischievousness." As an avid cross over performer and recitalist, Mrs. Medoff Bunchman has performed with The New Haven Symphony Orchestra, The Aspen Music Festival, The Breckenridge Music Festival, Ash Lawn Opera, Lake George Opera, The Electric Theater Company, and The Luzerne Music Festival. For her work in the world premier of the musical Extinction: A Love Story with the Dona Ana Lyric Opera, she was heralded as a gem for her expressive delivery and truly beautiful voice. She is the co-creator of this original cabaret entitled The Truth About Love and the Usual Lies. She and husband, pianist Michael Bunchman, perform this and many other cabarets and recitals throughout the country. As an oratorio singer, Mrs. Medoff Bunchman made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2007 singing the Soprano Soloist in the Faur Requiem. She is a Denver Lyric Opera Guild finalist and winner, as well as a regional finalist in the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Opera Council Auditions and the over-all and audience favorite winner of the Harold Haugh Light Opera Competition.
