Cinema Tremens October Screening
Marc Edward Heuck, founder of The Projector Has Been Drinking film and culture blog, presents the ninth installment of his screening series: CINEMA TREMENS! Offering a carefully crafted brew of cinematic styles we hope you find intoxicating.
Once again, the beautiful Downtown Independent on Main St., in the beautiful Downtown of Los Angeles, is going to be our host, for some beautifully scary activity! It's Halloween time, so our October double feature presents two tales of synaptic tampering, where ordinary people find themselves acting at the whims of unspeakable evil. Who needs zombies trying to claw at your brains, when they can get devoured from within???
First, why are so many nice boys in Galesberg, Illinois becoming such nice corpses? And why won't any of the grownups talk about what that mysterious Dr. LeSange did at the University decades ago? A deadly inheritance is coming to these small town teenagers in the form of STRANGE BEHAVIOR, the cheeky horror classic written by Bill Condon, Academy Award-winning writer/director of GODS AND MONSTERS and KINSEY, and directed by TWO-LANE BLACKTOP producer Michael Laughlin! Starring Louise Fletcher, Michael Murphy, Dey Young, and the greatest costume dance party set to Lou Christie's "Lightning Strikes" you've ever seen!
Then, it's time to kill your television before it kills you, because there's something coming through your screens, your radios, your cel phones, and its driving your otherwise polite neighbors to come beat you to death...that is, if you haven't irrationally tried to murder them yourself already! None of us are safe from - THE SIGNAL, the 2007 indie horror hit that heralded the arrival of a new wave of fresh and fearful filmmaking. And we are excited to have appearing IN PERSON all three directors - Jacob Gentry, Dan Bush and David Bruckner - plus three of the stars - A.J. Bowen, Justin Welborn, and Anessa Ramsey - and composer Ben Lovett, to tell you about the making of this modern favorite
Please join us on October 30th (one night only), the day before Halloween, and start your screaming early!
