NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (Live Original Music by the Andrew Alden Ensemble)
George A. Romero's classic 1968 zombie film Night of the Living Dead is being revived with an exciting new score performed live by the Andrew Alden Ensemble. Shot in black-and-white over seven months on a shoestring budget, Night of the Living Dead defined the modern horror movie and influenced a number of international horror directors, especially those working within the horror genre. The film's plot of is simple: Barbara and her brother Johnny are attacked when visiting a graveyard to honour the grave of their father. Johnny is attacked and killed by a zombie. Fleeing her attacker, Barbra meets Ben, who is also on the run from the recently reawakened dead. They begin to set up a nearby farmhouse as a fortress and soon discover they are not alone in the house.
The film will be shown non-traditionally without sound and with subtitles to create the atmosphere of a silent film. The Andrew Alden Ensemble, comprised of electric guitar, drum set, synthesizer, piano, violin and viola, will entertain audiences with their fascinating collaboration of rock music and contemporary classical composition.
