Solo Sundays - 11/29
Going beyond stand-up and storytelling, solo theater creates casts of thousands, plus special effects all bursting from one performer. The results are hilarious and heartbreaking, passionate and provocative, ablaze with their personal visions.
Solo Sundays, S.F.'s premier monthly showcase, presents select samplings of veteran virtuosos and top emerging talent in the intimate 50-seat StageWerx theater, a block from Union Square.
On November 29:
** Wayne Harris' "The John Henry Chronicles", supercharges the legend of this original African-American superhero: A quartet of characters add their own tall tales to traditional stories of how one prodigiously powerful ex-slave and his mighty hammers shaped America.
** In "Back to the Graveyard" Samantha Chanse explores the joys and perils of family dinners, bad art, drinking in public and flesh-eating monsters. Her tragi-comedy follows a sullen volunteer, a father in denial, and a reluctant artist.
