In this concert, CRSP performs works celebrating the theme of "life and death" by Medieval and Renaissance English composers, as well as modern European composers who take their musical inspiration from the Renaissance. Works by the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt and the English composer John Tavener (d. 2013) will stand alongside music by English Medieval Renaissance composers John Taverner, Guillaume de Machaut, John Sheppard, and others. Between musical selections, Calgary professional actor Josh Bertwistle will perform scenes from the Everyman Play (from the late 15th century) as abridged by playwright Lorna Rowsell-Petti.
