Spirits of the Red City + Patrick Dethlefs + Timeless, Infinite Light
We've been waiting nearly 8 months for the awe-inspiring Spirits of the Red City to bring their beautiful, harmonious music back to Denver. Happy to announce that the time has finally come!
Join us at The Savoy at Curtis Park, a gorgeous second floor mix-use venue in a landmark Victorian building for an evening of music, poetry and all around splendid times. The one and only Patrick Dethlefs will be kicking off the evening along with readings from Emji Spero and Joel Gregory of Oakland based small press, "Timeless, Infinite Light".

SPIRITS OF THE RED CITY:
Call the music time-weathered folk or strewn remnants of Americana or something else entirely. Here is what you will hear: Opaque lyrics, at once lonely and longing and hopeful and weary and love-strewn, given breath with explorative structure and melody, and supported by an ensemble of guitar, string bass, cello, viola, drums and found percussion, banjos, accordions, horn, mandolin, and vocal harmonies.
Spirits of the Red City describe themselves as a collective of friends and wandering musicians led by Will Garrison. Dense with musical and cultural influences which span traditional ballads, folk and classical music to avant-garde jazz, the band pulls the best qualities from genres that perhaps don't normally overlap.
Garrison writes his music with a sincere desire to speak to the listener, to share the joy and sadness in life. Spirits work together to create the orchestrations and strive to perform with their one soul that is 'community.' The 'Red City' might be defined as wherever the spirits of the musicians and the spirit of the listener come together, or any definition that the listener finds meaningful.

PATRICK DETHLEFS
Patrick Dethlefs' songwriting crests like a humble Townes Van Zandt, innocent of his own haunting melodies and lyricism. Dethlefs' music offers folk Americana with effortless sincerity at a time when many acts strive purposefully to revive the stripped-down feel of a musical history long past.

TIMELESS, INFINITE LIGHT
Timeless, Infinite Light is an Oakland small press focused on contemporary poetry and critical theory. We have a heavy, West Coast lean towards the experimental / political / mystical, and we are a member of the Omni Collective. timelessinfinitelight.com
Emji Spero is an Oakland-based artist exploring the intersections of writing, book art, installation, and performance. Spero's new book, almost any shit will do, uses found language, word-replacement and erasure to strange the familiar and map the boundaries of collective engagement.
Joel Gregory is a dropout of the New School MFA program and a co-founder of Timeless, Infinite Light. He is a poet and visual artist living in Oakland, California.
