Pete Kilpatrick
Pete Kilpatrick hails from the music mecca of the northeast, Portland, Maine. He has been writing, recording, and performing regularly since 2002 and has released six independent albums to date including his most recent effort, Heavy Fire. Pete's songwriting style dynamically blends elements of acoustic folk, rock, and pop with introspective lyrics that capture his listeners and draw them closer in.
Pete has been named Maine's best act four times in Portland's Best Music Awards and has performed over 1,200 shows since the beginning of his music career, sharing the stage with members of Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, David Gray, Jason Mraz, and O.A.R. His music has been featured on hit television shows such as, The Office, Parks and Recreation, New Girl, and The Real World.
Pete's latest record, Heavy Fire has been his most ambitious to date, featuring his melodic lyrical style over the top of intricate musical arrangements. It was a true collaborative effort written primarily at his house, situated on a spectacular coastal Maine river. Longtime friend and session bassist Matt Cosby remarks, "It's a great place to write. If you get hung up on a part, just step outside and sit by the water for a bitget your head right."
The album was recorded and produced at Red Vault Recording and mastered by the legendary Bob Ludwig. Recording at Red Vault, owned and operated by Pete Morse, gave the players on the record the unlimited freedom to perfect the sound they were aiming for, and it's evident throughout Heavy Fire from the memorable hook on American Dream to the riff from title track, Heavy Fire. Stefan Lessard, bassist for Dave Matthews Band, even lends his chops on album standout Burning Star.
