Trans* Voice Class: for Speaking and Singing
Please feel free to bring your questions- any question- about your voice- your speaking or singing voice. In my opinion as a singer and coach, the trans* population deserves more vocal care than received. Hormone therapy can greatly affect the vocal cords and I do not think artists and medical folks have caught on yet. Anyway, let's do something! Let's talk about your voice!
Here are the kinds of things we can explore together...
SPEAKING VOICE How has your speaking voice changed with your transition and/or hormones? Are you having any challenges with your speaking voice? Have you ever seen an ENT/voice therapist/speech therapist? Would you like to? Are you comfortable giving public presentations? Would you like to work on that? SINGING VOICE What was your voice part in your "before"? Or if you are in transition, how is your voice changing? Does your voice fatigue faster than it used to? How do you feel your range is changing/has changed as you transition/have transitioned (i.e. the "after" or right now/as you transition?) If you are taking/have taken hormones, how do you feel they are affecting/have affected your voice overall? What about singing brings you alive? What do you most enjoy about singing? What musical/vocal goals do you have?
