Kitka In Concert

Kitka, the celebrated women's vocal ensemble from the South Bay area, has built a career presenting the beautiful music of Eastern Europe women. Kitka strives to expand the boundaries of European vocal music as an expressive art form. Founded in 1979 as an offshoot of the Westwind International Folk Ensemble, Kitka began as a grassroots group of amateur singers from diverse backgrounds who met regularly to share their passion for the stunning dissonances, asymmetric rhythms, intricate ornamentation, and lush harmonies of Eastern European music. Now they travel the world sharing their unique variations of this sensational and deeply moving music. Appearing at the Glaser Center for their second time, Kitka will be presenting music from their latest CD, and new and old music from their enormous repertoire.
