Wildflowers and Other Botanical Delights
Discover the radiant beauty of Pepperwood's exceptional wildflower displays with Dr. Jennifer Palladini, field botany and ecology instructor at Santa Rosa Junior College. This is an excellent introduction to Pepperwood's "producers" which provide essential habitat and food for wildlife. Start with an introduction to wildflower identification and then hike Pepperwood's fields and forests.
Dr. Palladini has been involved in botanical teaching and research in the western United States for 15 years. Her research has explored the importance of ants as seed dispersers in forests of southern Oregon and the critical relationships between plants and their primary pollinators, native solitary bees. She has taught numerous botany and ecology courses at Humboldt State University, the University of Montana, and Sonoma State University. The excursion will be a moderate 1-3 miles at a slow pace.
