The Cult Of Dom Keller, Helicon & Desert Mountain Tribe
A fantastic night of psychedelic music awaits, with 3 superb bands!
Headlining the night we have Nottingham's The Cult Of Dom Keller! They arrived on earth in 2008, and in their 5 years of existence they have managed to bestow upon our eardrums an abundance of merciless, psychedelic, whacked out sounds through singles, EP's and an album!
The debut album landed in March last year and was released by Austin's Reverberation Society in the US and Mannequin Records in Europe to much critical acclaim!
CODK began in the autumn of 2008 jamming in a church cellar and it was these jams that resulted in EP1, a collection of ideas that felt like a stream of unconsciousness, a bad trip that first drew the listeners in, just to subsequently bury them alive in otherworldly sounds.
People seemed to dig and the band began to network and support like minded bands such as The Warlocks, White Hills, The Black Angels and Spectrum.
The band was invited to perform at The 4th Austin Psych Festival as one of just 2 British bands, alongside Roky Erikson, The Black Angels and a plethora of other bands from across the world.
EP2 soon followed where the sounds and atmospheres of EP1 were beginning to develop into songs and by EP3 the band were now touring Europe and playing across the UK from psyche festivals in London to the Liverpool festival of Psychedelia.
The fourth EP "Secret Sounds" was a limited 6 track of almost all live, one take jams that showed a band creating some of its most varied and atmospheric work to date!
And in March this year they released the critically acclaimed 'The Second Bardo' , already a very strong contender for our album of the year!
Before them we are delighted to welcome the mighty Helicon! The Doom-mongering behemoths of Psychedelic Rock formed in East Kilbride / Glasgow in 2011 and have released a number of EP's, the latest being 'Disturbance For The Disturbed', released in April this year, and also an album 'Suburban Decay' released in March 2013. A live act of epic proportions, their set at The Liverpool Festival Of Psychedelia in 2013 was a highlight for us!
Opening the night we are chuffed to bits to welcome Desert Mountain Tribe!
Emerging late in 2012 out of the ever-relevant cultural undergrowth of London town itself, Desert Mountain Tribe is a threefold onslaught of psychedelic rock heart and soul. The psych-blood flows strong in the veins of founding members Jonty Balls (Guitar/Vocals) and brothers Philipp (Bass) and Felix (Drums) Jahn. The brothers having cut their teeth side by side throughout their formative years, playing together in a multitude of ensembles from a very young age, these days they constitute one of the more formidable emerging rhythm sections currently active on the United Kingdom's club circuit. In the short time the band have been active, Desert Mountain Tribe have shared the stage with the likes of Damo Suzuki The Cult of Dom Keller, The Lucid Dream, Wall of Death and The Telescopes. Their début EP, an effort recorded and committed to tape in the trip-worthy surroundings of Shaken Oak Farm in Oxfordshire and subsequently mastered by none other Brett Orrison of The Black Angels n 2013, and was released digitally and as a limited edition 12" viny in March this year, amassing a wealth of positive notices. Desert Mountain Tribe's start has proved to be an inter-sensual, mind-bending odyssey. Standout track 'Coming Down' has featured on Reverb Conspiracy's latest compilation offering, a release double-headed by the equally legendary imprints Fuzz Club Records and Austin Psych Fest. The band will release new material throughout autumn/winter 2014,which will be closely followed by their début album. And have been working on a film score with a multi-media artist. Meanwhile, Desert Mountain Tribe continue to lap the UK with a string of sonic performances and have just embarked on their first headline tour of Europe and Scandinavia culminating in an appearance at Finland's Lost in Music festival as part of the internationally respected Music & Media conference.
With a Goodsoul DJ set before, between and after, this will be a monumental night of music!
