Peanut Butter & The Pen: Food Writing for Kids
In this 2 hour creative writing workshop 3rd - 5th graders will use all five senses and plates full of adjectives, metaphors and similes to learn how to write about food.
Together, we'll taste food, read excerpts from some of literature's greatest writing in praise of food, and use writing to explore the how food gets from the ground to our table.
Drop off your kid with pencil and spiral notebook in hand at 10:30, and pick them up with their original story in hand at 12:30. Everyone will create one-of-a-kind pieces of food writing.
Workshop leader Sondra Hall, is the Director of "Take My Word For It!", an organization that teaches creative writing to kids in numerous Bay area after school programs and community settings. Sondra, a writer and a parent, created "Take My Word For It!" to provide a safe, supportive environment where kids can swim around in their imaginations and find their writer's voice.
