JACKSON - An Irish Christmas: Songs and Music from West Cork
JACKSON -- The traditional Irish music trio, Legacy, will present their highly acclaimed program "An Irish Christmas Celebration: Traditional Songs and Music of West Cork." The annual Christmas show is a collaborative effort of Legacy and Dr. Jim Flanagan, and is a mix of Irish holiday music and stories of Irish traditions. Jim, who hails from Balleyvourney, County Cork, Ireland, serves as the MC for the program.
"The songs and stories are drawn from seasonal traditions of the Celtic nations, with an emphasis on West Cork"Â says Valerie Plested of the band. "The Christmas music, except for one piece (which will be sung in Irish), will be completely new for most Jackson listeners, though the songs are very old!"
Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door (discounts available for members of the church, Celtic Heritage Society, and Jackson Irish Dancers. Membership will be confirmed at the door). A post-concert party will be hosted that night at Fenian's Irish Pub (corner of Jefferson & Fortification, Jackson). This concert is sponsored by the Covenant Presbyterian Church, the Celtic Heritage Society, and Fenian's Irish Pub.
