Jomama Jones: "Night Flowers" at JACK
Thursday - Saturday, Oct 30-Nov 1 at 8 pm at JACK (Please note that there is limited seating at JACK, and any purchased tickets will be released at 7:55 pm to a waiting list, should there be one.)
JACK is honored to be the first NYC venue to present Jomama Jones' "Night Flowers," constituting the first step in creator Daniel Alexander Jones' building of "Flowering," an evening-length piece that is to be shaped throughout the year as a series of live appearances and collaborations. The three-night presentation will focus on the role that dreams, and the night, have in the process of regeneration.
The diva will be joined in music, performance, and communion by her band, led by Los Angeles-based musical director, Dr. Bobby Halvorson, and featuring celebrated performing artist Helga Davis, composer/vocalist Mary Edwards, singer/actor Jacques Gerard Colimon, as well as a few very special guests over the weekend, including dynamic singer Rhonda Ross (Oct. 30), theater artist Will Davis (Oct. 31) and the award-winning performance scholar, Dr. E. Patrick Johnson (Nov. 1).
"Jomama chose me as a vessel to speak through" explains Jomama's creator, Daniel Alexander Jones. "I first performed her in the mid-1990s, then not again until five years ago. She is a full being, complex and driven by a desire to encourage real connection among the people she encounters, and determined to put on a killer show while doing so."
