Young Frankenstein
It's Alive! The award-winning Marin School of the Arts Theatre Department presents a monstrously funny musical rendition of the classic Mel Brooks film, Young Frankenstein. Directed by Rodney Franz, the story follows the descendant of the infamous Doctor Frankenstein (also a doctor who pronounces his name Fronkensteen) after he inherits his grandfather's castle, leaving his incredibly self-involved madcap fiance Elizebeth in New York, and journeys to Transylvania. There with the lovable hunchback Igor (that's Eye-gor), and his flirtatious lab assistant Inga, he attempts to complete his grandfather's masterwork to bring a corpse to life -- with hilarious complications. The grand performance contains memorable songs such as "Puttin' On The Ritz" and sensational dance numbers choreographed by Devin Parker Sullivan and Donna Cerio. Musical Director Scott DeTurk is coaching over 50 MSA/Novato High students to achieve incredible vocal arrangements. John Asti conducts an award-winning MSA Band accompaniment.
"Fans of the movie will not be disappointed. It has everything in the film and then some," Franz enthuses. "I am very proud of our exceptional cast."
"The show is so much fun to put together. It's hilarious. We are constantly cracking up at what's being done onstage.' says senior Sam O'Byrne.
Take a "Roll in Zee Hay" with Dr. Frankenstein and an array of wacky characters from the happiest town in Transylvania!
