Jewish Holiday Cooking
JEWISH HOLIDAY COOKING Sunday December 6, 2009 a.Muse Gallery, 614 Alabama St, San Francisco, 94110 noon-5pm $45
In addition to classic techniques for making the perfect potato latke, we will learn how to culture home-made creme fraiche and make applesauce from scratch, while preparing a number of variations on the latke, including inspiration from Eastern European, Middle Eastern, and North African traditions, as well as a vegan version and gluten-free version. For omnivores, we will learn how to cure salmon gravlax at home and make simple winter root vegetable accompaniments that pair well with latkes. On the sweeter side, we will learn to make sufganiyot, Israeli jelly donuts traditionally served for Hanukkah. The festival of lights for food lovers, Jewish and non-Jewish alike. All are welcome.
* No experience necessary. Beginners and experienced cooks welcome. * Sign up for the class or enroll a friend in the spirit of giving experiences instead of things for the holidays this year. *More info at calico-pie.blogspot.com
