East Bay Consultants Forum Nov. 20, 2009
Consultants have long been known for giving advice to others.
Often in our Breakfast Forum, they come looking for solutions to boost their revenue, advice to improve their marketing, skills to add to their toolkit, or answers to solve tough client problems. Sometimes they lose sight of why they became a consultant, and are are trying to decide whether to "hang in there" or go look for a J-O-B.
Others come because they decided to dump the corporate life (or it showed them the Exit door) and are curious about becoming a consultant. There is hesitation, lack of confidence, and a desire to learn how to be a consultant, what to do, where to look for clients, etc.
What if we were to flip our thinking around how we look at our consulting practice? What could emerge if instead of seeking answers, we sought questions?
Come to our November 20 breakfast and discover what can happen when you change your thinking. Here's what we'll cover:
* Delicious Dilemmas * Powerful Questions * Taking Action
About Your Topic Facilitator: When Barbara's daughter was in elementary school, the teacher asked students what their parents did at work. She said, "My mama makes a living by asking people questions." For 22 years, Barbara Chan CMC has served as a confidential thought partner, asking questions of her clients to help them assess where they're at, align with their highest values, and take action in their organizations to get results. A Certified Management Consultant, Executive Coach, Strategic Facilitator, Mediator, Sustainable Business Management Advisor and Green Building Professional, Barbara brings a holistic approach to helping executives and managers develop socially responsible leadership and organizations in business, government, higher education and non-profits. Over the years, seasoned and new consultants have hired her to coach them through "stuck places" in their practices or partnerships, and changes in their careers.
If you ask for her advice during this session, you probably won't get it!
