Queers for Fears
shorts program, 88 minutes) Just keep telling yourself, ÂItÂs only a movie, only a movie. A shorts program for homos that enjoy the horror genre, and not for the faint of heart. However if the films are to intense you can retreat into the Âcowards corner for respite, just follow the yellow foot prints, and repeat Âits only a movie. This program includes Far From Home, (Alan Rowe Kelly*, USA, 2009, 45min) Making its gay film festival debut at this screening, Alan Rowe Kelly's controversial short horror tale, a Far Cry from Home, is about a young urban gay couple (Kelly & Don Money) traveling through the NJ wilderness and stop at a rural antique hex store. What they donÂt realize is that the backwoods store owners (Katherine O'Sullivan, Jerry Murdock & Benzy) are a religious sect of homophobic, crazed killers who - under the local rule of the Preacher Man (Terry West) - have Âextended plans for our vacationing couple by doing the ÂLordÂs workÂ. A horror film in every sense by using Âhate as the ultimate killer.
