Chamber Music Underground Fall 2014
The Layne Home: A Halloween Eve with the Eastwood Ensemble 817 Russell Street Historic Edgefield, East Nashville 37206
SUNDAY October 26, 2014 at 6:00pm, Music beginning shortly after.
In the blustery month of October, as the leaves glitter with orange, yellow, and gold there is a neighborhood nestled in East Nashville glowing with the warmth of a freshly carved pumpkin: Historic Edgefield.
Currently featured on television shows and rumored to have once been a choice neighborhood of residence by Bob Dylan when he was considering moving to Nashville--Edgefield offers neighborly charm, unique architecture, and a rich history bordered within her lovely brick walkways.
The Layne Home was built in the early 1900s and rests beside a historic stained glass church. On Russell Street, there are unique historic homes--many of which survived the Great Fire of 1916. Inside this home there is much to admire--original wood, never-been painted pocket doors and elegant fireplaces. The spacious kitchen leads into a garden designed by the family. Their store All Seasons Gardening and Brewing Supply Company is a Nashville favorite!
Join us for an enchanting Autumn evening! Not only is it unusual in Nashville to experience a concert in this fashion, it is a rarity in the entire classical world to hear music play in its original venue--the drawing room of a private residence. We take the music and place it within the spirit of a historic home! You get to see, feel, and hear the past and present brought together organically.
You'll hear music written over centuries for such intimate occasions while sharing wine, locally made candy, and light snacks with some amazing neighbors who live in Edgefield and beyond. Expect to hear about the surviving houses of the great fire of 1916 or learn the story behind the haunted hideout house of Jesse James around the corner. Our concerts always have an element of surprise. With the Halloween air circulating you never know what magic will happenBOO! Informal dress=Jeans and comfy clothing encouraged. Although we are a not-for-profit organization and volunteer 100% of our services to the community, our operational and business costs still require financial support. This event will raise the funds we need to continue our work for the growing communities of East Nashville. Music of the Classical Nature and maybe a few surprises!! Performed by the Eastwood Ensemble and Special Guests
