This training will provide clinicians with the knowledge and tools to appropriately refer clients with opiate dependence for assessment. Additionally clinicians will deem the suitability for participation in a methadone program. Population specific discussion will occur.
Participants will be able to
- Describe the origins and rationale for Opioid Replacement Therapy, - List populations appropriate for Methadone Treatment referral, - Assess clients for suitability of placement into Methadone Treatment, - Differentiate between Methadone and Buprenorphine, and - Identify myths and reality of Opioid Replacement Therapy,

Trainer Dr. Jonathan Berman, MD, is the Clinical Medical Director for Columbia River Mental Health Services NorthStar Clinic since 2004. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of California, San Diego. He is Board Certified in Addiction Psychiatry.
