"M.U.D. (Men Under Dirt)" Long Island Gay Lesbian Film Festival
This artistic work, choreographed and directed by John Ollom, was created to show a love story between two men that surpasses death. Based on the ancient Greek myth of Karpos (Matthew Jon Wagner) and Kalamos (John Ollom), this beautiful story once revered in ancient Greek society as a story of love and devotion has been all but ignored in many current homophobic societies. M.U.D. (Men Under Dirt) takes us on a journey deep into a man's psyche that is filled with fears, insecurities and passions that are pulsing to erupt at any moment. This bold choreographic work explores one man's dishonesty with himself. Trapped in a loveless heterosexual marriage, he still longs for the male lover from his past. In his turmoil he discovers his "shadow self" and a power struggle ensues between the archetypes in his subconscious. (Please be advised the performance does include male nudity.) John Ollom was reviewed as "one of todays most exciting choreographers" by David Noh of the New York Blade.
