capsized: a dance performance by Jungwoong Kim (20 min.)
In capsized, Korean-born, Philadelphia-based choreographer Jungwoong Kim channels ever-shifting thoughts and emotions ignited by the tragic loss of nearly 300 young people in the South Korean ferry disaster earlier this year. The 20-minute piece uses the specific architecture of Asian Arts Initiative as the frame for a collage of movement, song, sound, and visual images in remembrance of the young lives and ambitions that were submerged with the ferry. capsized features performances by Jungwoong Kim and Marion Ramirez, live music by Bhob Rainey, costume by Patricia Dominguez and video images by Fred Hatt.
