ROLES: YOUR LEGAL ADVISOR
How sure are you that you're following the correct Procedures for protecting your film project, your talent and your crew? How can you ensure that you don't enter into a production financing situation that can leave you homeless and penniless? What are your rights under a domestic distribution contract? How about a foreign sales distribution contract? Are they even different?
December's filmmaker seminar will kick off a new subtopic we call "ROLES". Similar to the "TOOLS" series, "ROLES" will focus on the different *individuals* who collaborate on a movie. One of those individuals, working primarily behind the scenes, is your legal advisor. You -- the producer, director and filmmaker -- need to know when and how a legal advisor comes into play. We will explore a variety of situations where legal advice is desireable and, more often than not, a necessity.
