Pathways 2007: Coaching Kindness: The Impact of Language on Your Child's Character
Coaching Kindness: The Impact of Language on Your Child's Character Hal Urban, Ph.D.
May 22, 2007 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Words can hurt or heal, bring misery or joy, discourage or inspire. Dr. Urban's presentation, based on a chapter of his best-selling book "Positive Words, Powerful Results", explains why the development of language is one of mankind's greatest achievements, and why we often overlook it. Urban illustrates the power of language in part by quoting from wise people through 3000 years of history. His lecture emphasis will be on two of the keys to successful parenting: quality time together and meaningful conversation. He offers ten practical suggestions for communicating with kids that any parent can put to use immediately. Dr. Urban has been researching the impact of words on people for more than 30 years. People of all ages and in a variety of organizations have been enriched by his wisdom, common sense, and humor.
