The Village Playhouse presents : The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
The Village Playhouse proudly presents of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, the first production of their 2014/2015 Season. Set in their new space at Inspiration Studios on 1500 south 73rd street, the show will run October 17 through November 2 with a "special" performance on Halloween night.
This haunting adaptation written by Noah Smith, based on a Novella by Robert Louis Stevenson, tells the story of Dr. Henry Jekyll, a brilliant scientist frustrated by his dull "respectable" life. He creates a formula to unleash his inner bestial nature, transforming him into the brutish and psychotic Edward Hyde.
Directed by James Lentz Jr., Jekyll & Hyde promises to explore the world of duality, science, love and madness. The story explores the belief that there is a "darkness" inside all of us waiting to come out and bare its teeth. "If you can get a rise out of the audience", says James. "If you can get them to be shocked, to feel, to even creep them out a little, then you'll have a great show."
The players in this gothic tale include Scott Sorensen as Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, Jackie Benka as the Maid, Greg Ryan as the Butler, Paul Pfannenstiel as Utterson, Audwin Short as Lanyon, Melody Lopac as Cybel, Silvia Ludena as Helen, Derek Jacobs as Enfield, Clarence "Sammy" Aumend as the Pimp, and Kate Hightdudis as the Flower Girl.
Tickets for Jekyll & Hyde are $17 for adults and $15 for students/seniors. Tickets may be reserved by sending an email to JekyllandHyde@villageplayhouse.org, or calling the main number at (414) 207-4VPW (4879). See www.villageplayhouse.org for more information.
