Doors open at 8:45 and the show starts soon after with some instructions for virgins (first time film goers), a preshow performance and a costume contest with prizes.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show has been playing regularly as a midnight movie for more than 30 years. This film is the ultimate cult classic: Shadow Casts act out numbers from the film while the movie plays and encourages the raucous humor and call backs from the often costumed audience. The Live Performers in Rosendale includes: Doug Motel, Carl Welden, Dylan Johanson, Molly Parker Myers, Nikki Garret, James MacMorran, Carrie Wykoff and others!
This notorious horror parody - a fast-paced potpourri of camp, sci-fi and rock 'n' roll, among other things - tracks the exploits of naïve couple Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon) after they stumble upon the lair of transvestite Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry). The film - a bizarre musical co-starring Meat Loaf and Richard O'Brien - bombed in its initial release but later gained a cult following. "Halloween is considered to be the "birthday" of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, it is the ultimate cult classic, we are so thrilled to dust off our fishnets and bring it back to Rosendale!" states Carrie Wykoff, Co-Chair of fundraising at The Rosendale Theatre.
Not for the faint of heart, the movie is packed with raucous and racy humor. Rocky Horror is an R rated film anyone under 17 requires an accompanying parent or adult guardian and no one under the age of 12 will be admitted.
