A Delicious Afternoon at Canlis Restaurant

Learn about how Canlis and Starbucks developed Casi Cielo, a specialty coffee from the senior product designer of Starbucks, D. Major Cohen.

In 2003, Starbucks came to Canlis to learn how to create a coffee for the finest restaurants in America. Canlis recommendation was simple: it must be socially and environmentally responsible, it must be the absolute best roast in town, it must pair with classic desserts such as lava cake and crme brule.

In the months that ensued, Starbucks focused on a program for sustainable agriculture and suggested a single source coffee called Casi Cielo. Grown by four families, each generations old, Casi Cielo embodied everything we were looking for: sustainability, fair trade, world-class flavor. Soon, a new Starbucks coffee was born.

Today, Casi Cielo is the second most popular specialty coffee Starbucks offers (after Christmas blend!) and is only available the first couple months of every year. At Canlis, it's served every night.

Included in this event:
1) a variety of Casi Cielo brewed using Clover Machine
2) a variety of sweets prepared by Jason Franey, executive chef of Canlis Restaurant.

And we will have a goodie bag for everyone.
