Topic: Corrosion Repairs to a Shipping Berth in Mexico
Manzanillo Mexico is Mexico's largest Pacific port, and was the first shipping yard in Latin America opening in 1531. Like many port facilities, the Port of Manzanillo has a wide variety of locations and environments which each present their own challenges from a corrosion standpoint. This presentation will outline the fundamentals of marine corrosion through a case study detailing the design and installation of corrosion repairs at the Port of Manzanillo. The repairs include excavation and patching of spalls, petrolatum pile jackets, and a galvanic cathodic protection system.
