Russ Lorenson: What I Want for Christmas - Warm & Swingin' Christmas Vocals
"Russ [Lorenson] is an elegant performer who has faultless musical taste and vocal phrasing. He has a voice that is reminiscent of some of the great singers like Tony Bennett, Chet Baker and a little of Mel Torme Richard Connema, Talking Broadway
Looking for a night of musical Christmas joy? Vocalist Russ Lorenson will fill the bill during his Pearl's CD release party for his new holiday album, What I Want for Christmas.
There's something for everyone in Lorenson's wonderful holiday show! From the swinging "My Favorite Time Of Year" and "I'll Be Home For Christmas," to the intimate and romantic "Christmas Waltz" and "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?" to the plain old ragtime fun of "If I Hear Another Song About Christmas," it's pure magic listening to these classics, delivered with Lorenson's fresh, invigorating delivery.
Russ Lorenson grew up in music, singing in a variety of genres throughout his high school days. He stepped away from music for 15 years to ride the wild dot.com boom, but returned full-time to his first love in 2005. In that brief time, he's made a huge success with three popular stage shows. "A Little Travelin' Music" takes audiences on a musical journey through Lorenson's life via the great standards of the 20th century. "Benedetto/Blessed" is Lorenson's tribute to the great Tony Bennett.
And then, of course, there's "What I Want for Christmas." Backed by arranger/pianist Kelly Park, Lorenson has performed his shows, to consistently high acclaim, from San Francisco's Plush Room to the Hideaway Room in New York City.
Don't just take our word for it, though. We think Stu Hamstra of Cabaret Hotline, reviewing "A Little Travelin' Music," put things quite well:
"Mr. Park's arrangements are awesome! He and Russ were able to put together a show that would otherwise be ordinary, with songs used in just about every other cabaret 'journey' show, and make it unique, fresh, exciting and truly entertaining. Mr. Lorenson's superb vocals and easy-going manner made for an hour of pure entertainment."
