**2014 PSYCHOTRONIC SPOOKTACULAR SCHEDULE**

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5
TWO AMAZING AUSTRALIAN HORROR CLASSICS

5PM:
ROAD GAMES (1981, Australia)
This tense thriller is clearly an homage to the works of Alfred Hitchcock as well as to Steven Spielberg's early film DUEL, and was nominated for Best International Film of 1982 by the U.S. Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films. It stars Savannah native and Golden Globe Winner Stacey Keach and Jamie Lee Curtis (HALLOWEEN, TRADING PLACES). The Plot - A truck driver plays a cat-and-mouse game with a mysterious serial killer who uses a young female hitchhiker as bait to lure victims on a desolate Australian highway.

8PM:
LONG WEEKEND (1978, Australia)
Not to be confused with the pointless 2008 remake, this little-known cult gem packs a real wallop and is simply one of the creepiest films you may ever see. The Plot - A suburban couple go camping for the weekend at a remote beach on the Australian coast, but soon discover to their horror that the forces of nature don't appreciate the intrusion, and have sinister plans for them. Truly frightening.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 12
TWO FORGOTTEN GEMS OF TWISTED DEPRAVITY

5PM:
TWO EVIL EYES (1990, USA)
This overlooked anthology features two different hour-long films, both modern-day adaptations of short stories by the great EDGAR ALLAN POE, and both made by esteemed horror filmmakers. The first is directed by GEORGE A. ROMERO (NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, DAWN OF THE DEAD, CREEPSHOW) and stars Adrienne Barbeau. The second is directed by DARIO ARGENTO (SUSPIRIA, TENEBRE, DEEP RED), and stars Harvey Keitel.

8PM:
SYMPTOMS (1976, U.K.)
One of the rarest and most unnerving films the PFS has ever uncovered in its 11 years of existence, this genuinely disturbing shocker about a mentally ill young lady (played by famed actor Donald Pleasence's daughter Angela) living in a secluded mansion in the English countryside has never been released on DVD anywhere in the world. The negatives to the film were mysteriously destroyed decades ago, and it has not been shown in public for over 30 years. This is an amazing opportunity to see the best-known surviving copy of a legitimately "lost" horror classic that is compared to Roman Polanski's famed shocker REPULSION. Don't you dare miss it!

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 19
TWO AMAZING SPANISH HORROR CLASSICS

5PM:
THE HOUSE THAT SCREAMED (1969, Spain)
Both of this evening's two films were directed by the underrated filmmaker Narciso Ibáñez Serrador. The first, is a twisted murder mystery which takes place in a dormitory at a home for wayward girls. It was a landmark European horror film, and heavily influenced later Italian "Giallo"-style slasher flicks. We'll show to complete, uncut and restored version which has never been released in the USA.

8PM:
WHO CAN KILL A CHILD? (1976, Spain)
Forget the pointless 2012 remake (under a different name), this EXTREMELY obscure film is considered by serious horror movie fanatics to be one of the very finest scare flicks of the 1970s. The Plot - A couple of English tourists (husband and wife) arrive on a small island for a vacation only to find all the children who live on the island have turned on the adults and begun to attack them violently. A highly influential and groundbreaking film of its time, which was initially banned in several countries due to its upsetting nature.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 26
TWO AMAZING ITALIAN HORROR CLASSICS

5PM:
THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE (1970, Italy)
One of the most visually stunning thrillers ever made, this film cemented Italian writer-director Dario Argento's reputation as "The Italian Hitchcock," and jump-started the entire "Giallo" slasher film genre, which became widely popular throughout Europe in the '70s and '80s. Beautifully composed and shot, it's a haunting spectacle with plenty of unexpected twists. The Plot - an American writer in Rome witnesses an attempted murder by a serial killer. Frustrated by the police's slow progress, the writer begins to investigate on his own, leading him closer and closer to solving the mystery and finding the killer - while putting himself in incredible danger.

8PM:
ZOMBIE aka ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS (1979, Italy)
Directed by horror maestro Lucio Fulci (THE BEOND, CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD) this grisly and grim movie is considered by many to be one of the most gruesome and terrifying creations ever put on film. Far from the political allegories of George Romero's zombie saga or THE WALKING DEAD TV series, Fulci's cult classic goes straight for the throat. It is a menacing blast of nightmarish imagery and old-school voodoo folklore. The Plot - strangers looking for a woman's father arrive at a tropical island where a doctor desperately searches for the cause and cure of a recent epidemic of the undead. We'll screen the completely uncut and restored version of this beloved and bewildering shocker.
