Contrasts Quartet
See them FIRST! The Contrasts Quartet appears in the Occidental Community Church on November 14 as the third concert in the Redwood Arts 30th anniversary concert series. Acclaimed for their exhilarating performances of old and new repertoire, the Contrasts Quartet is a group of four extraordinary virtuosi whose instruments include clarinet, violin, cello and piano. The group chose its name to describe the contrasting timbres of their instruments, as well as the variety of their repertoire. For their Redwood Arts appearance, the ensemble will perform a mix of duos, trios and quartets presenting a broad range of works from the past 100 years, including works by Zoltn Kodly, Bela Bartok, and by contemporary composers Aaron Jay Kernis and Peter Schickele .
