MN Teacher Workshop: Water around the World
The world is on the verge of a severe water crisis, which threatens food security, human health, and environmental ecosystems around the world. This water crisis has serious implications for peace and security at the local, national and international levels. As world population rises, the amount of water available for human use remains the same, which is likely to cause a significant increase in water stress in many parts of the world.
This workshop is designed to introduce educators to the global water crisis and the impact it will have across society.
Workshop Overview: -Expert speakers on contemporary water issues, including: Roopali Phadke - Professor, Macalester College Dams & water privatization Patty Hall - Co-Founder, H2O for Life Water, health and sanitation -Overview of the World Savvy Monitor edition on water: www.monitor.worldsavvy.org -Dialogue and resource sharing on classroom activities with other MN teachers -Dissemination of sample curricula and readings for the classroom -After lunch, we will conduct and orientation and overview of the 2010 World Affairs Challenge
