What happens to a vegetarian who moves to the last frontier? Connecting to where you live and eating locally means not just going to the farmer's market, but living off the land and the sea. It's a serious and humorous quest of an ex-urban vegetarian who moves to Alaska, marries a fisherman and hunter and begins to wonder what the "right" thing to eat is- in a place surrounded by wilderness. The film talks about farmed salmon, toxins getting into wild foods, and the colonization of the indigenous diet. From Alaska Native teens talking about their favorite traditional foods as they make pretzels to women trying to teach the filmmaker to hunt, this wry look at whats on your plate explores ideas about eating healthy sustainable food from one's own backyard, either urban or wild, versus industrially produced food shipped thousands of miles.
