SF Teacher workshop: Water around the world
The world is on the verge of a severe water crisis, which threatens food security, human health, and environmental ecosystems around the world. This water crisis has serious implications for peace and security at the local, national and international levels. As world population rises, the amount of water available for human use remains the same, increasing competition for these resources and creating water stress. As world population grows exponentially in the next decades (to an estimated 9 billion by 2050), this stress threatens to develop into a full water crisis.
Join us to learn about water stress around the world and the impact this has across many sectors of society, discuss the issues and receive resources for classroom lessons related to water. In addition, learn more about the World Savvy Monitor, a free, online current events service containing in-depth overviews of our global community's most pressing issues, especially created for educators. The November 2009 issue of the Monitor will profile the global water crisis - get a sneak peek at this workshop!
